Jess:

Hey, y'all welcome back to naked. Talk with Jess podcast. We Jen Burton owner of raw creations back in the studio with us today. How are you doing Jen?

Jennifer:

Good. Good. I'm be back.

Jess:

Thank you for joining us again. So we had our episode about raw creations, a bit of the story and why, and all the benefits of juicing. I discovered juicing a little bit over a decade ago and it really changed my life personally. And so I love sharing the message people and. I think a lot of people still are unaware maybe of the differences of what let's just say, not all juices and smoothies are created equal. Right. And we touch on this a little bit in our last episode, but. When something becomes trendy or people, the consumer start catching on to it. So marketers. So you still have to be an informed consumer, be an advocate for your own health, and really look beyond the marketing and look at the labels and the ingredients. So share with us a little bit today about what is difference between a smoothie and a juice? Yeah.

Jennifer:

So there is really a huge need in our bodies for both. But they are very different. with juices, you're eliminating eliminating the fiber. So when you drink a juice, all of those nutrients are going straight into your bloodstream. You're basically bypassing your digestive system. So getting the max benefits from those. That's why it's so important. You always talk about with the ingredients, for them to be premium ingredients. You don't juice that straight apple. With a little bit of spinach to make it green. That's not, you know, that's not really benefiting you. You also want the ingredients to be fully organic and all that kind of So juices for the there's a huge, our bodies need that as well. They need the fiber to encourage the digestion. And to encourage healthy digestion. So, those are great too. I mean, can add like a protein to your smoothies. So if post-workout, that's a a great time to do those. So there's really a need for both. It kind of more depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Jess:

Yeah, thanks for sharing that. And then one thing I noticed when I started rA creations and my there as well. So thank you for that. Anything I think as a parent, especially of that you can bring in that's healthier. Yeah. Is plus. So I love when they say, Hey, let's go, you know, grab, you something rock creations, but. You glass bottles. Gen that those suckers are heavy. You know, why can't you just use plastic?

Jennifer:

Plastic would absolutely be easier us. It would be much easier, but it was just important to me if we're doing. Premium I, it doesn't sense to to put it into a plastic bottle have that plastic leaching into there's a lot of, you lemon and lime and you're just leaching that right out. Absolutely the plastic easier. It's however, easier on your it's not our environment. So was just something that was really important to us was to do the glass bottles. We also, you them back in and we'll cents off future juice, a way for us to encourage recycling and. Yes, reusing of So. We have a lot of that will take off use them for spices or So they're kind of fun like that.

Jess:

Yeah. I've done those things. I've recycled them for different things home. And then just this week I gave you a lot. That I had pantry. So and I was being a little facetious with you there. I know why, but those are some that might be questioning these are some other points to be of when you're at buying. And we'll, we'll just go quickly to water. That's one thing learned early on that I would buy bottled water and I will leave it in my car or my garage and had no clue what was leaching into my water. So all of these things add up and they add to that. Overload in our body. And it affects our health. So thank you for going that extra step. I know makes your cost as a business owner go up, but you're always putting our health first. So you for that. Another that some of our listeners had is if you're new to juicing and you say, okay, Jen, I wanted juice, but I I'm thinking of trying to cleanse, but I have no idea what cleanse I should do. Can you share a little bit about that as well?

Jennifer:

Yeah. Everybody a different reason. So we have three different levels, the novice, the reboot, and the hardcore. Really to meet everyone where they're So someone who doesn't even like veggies and doesn't, you know, they're going to need that novice that has more sweetness to it. Most people will start on the sweeter end and as they drink more juice, they will end up. Someone who starts out drinking really sweet juices will end up drinking more hardcore juices at the end because your body starts to get used to those veggies and desires them. But at the end of the day, as far as cleanses go, it really matters what you're accomplish with the juice cleanse. some people will just need a quick restart and they'll do a one day cleanse, just, you know and then they'll start back. Someone, especially that eats healthy on a normal basis. A lot of times people will do a one day, maybe once a month, a quick restart. Most common is three days. Just because they're trying to. Restart habits, you know, or change habits, I should say. So. The most common is the three day, but

Jess:

okay. And. And we know, especially, you know, with, with everything that's right now health and wellness, we want to make sure that we're keeping our immune system as good as it can So I've shared, you know, for several years now at the naked talk with Jess podcast. many Americans have what we call the sad or standard. In American diet and they have the sad or what we call the standard American diet. And it's just so packed processed foods and sugars. So what if someone wants to say, okay, I'm starting my health journey. I'm starting to become more aware of the foods or things that I thought were foods that aren't really whole foods that I'm eating. But I'm not ready for a whole cleanse. Is it just drink juice every now then what does that look like for someone who really just wants to start this whole juice? Experience, but not give up everything.

Jennifer:

Yeah. Absolutely. There's a so we have, we have one cleanse that is kind of designed for those people where you drink four juices throughout the day, and then you eat a clean, healthy dinner. This is kind of a good compromise on that. Yeah. But also just drinking a juice here and there is absolutely. I mean, if you think about it in a day, if you, if you were to eat, a huge bowl of produce. You would amazing. And so that's, you know, a quicker way. Yes. This is not that you have to, but kind of a rule of thumb that I love is I always drink these on an empty stomach. I just feel like it bypasses the digestion. And so I will drink a juice. If I get hungry in the middle of the day, sometimes I'll a meal. Or sometimes I'll just drink one in the middle of the day. It is incredible. The pick me up that it gives you. So there's also another one that activated charcoal. So if you feel a lot of people, if they've been drinking a lot, we'll drink that one help get the D get out. Okay.

Jess:

What's that one called Jen.

Jennifer:

Get activated that.

Jess:

Plugin activated.

Jennifer:

It tastes like lemonade. But as the activated charcoal to used to drink a lot of water afterwards to help

Jess:

yeah.

Jennifer:

Move

Jess:

out, but can you share a little about did you come up with the juices that have at RA creations and the names? I know you have some really cool names. Maybe just share a little bit, a few of those and why you chose those combinations.

Jennifer:

Yeah. I started out because I like the stronger juices. I started out with those and just kind of, kind of playing around with them and seeing how healthy I can make them. And still tastes. You know. Okay. But then knowing that I had to help you know, meet people where they are. So some of 'em, you know, are on the sweeter side because maybe they don't like so we have to hide the veggies for them. My favorite and my personal favorite juice is the Reiki bobber. Kind of a quick story behind that is we had a, a girl the montgomery and she said, Hey, my dad has cancer. His doctor said he needs to do these things. Can you create a juice for him? And it, at first I was a little bit leery. Just because that's making a whole nother spent. So I ingredients, juice with it. It's now hands down our most popular juice. We named it the Reiki bobber, cause his name was Rick and he was a fishermen. So it kinda neat. We still keep up with the family they're precious, but anyway, but that one, the Ricky is full of greens and produce, but has green apple to cut it a little bit. that's why timmy, that one is. Has the most impact with a little bit of sweetness? We have one that's stronger no fruit, but you have to be ready that one. You know,

Jess:

Yeah, I've tried that one. I, I love like you said, I've been on this journey decade. I think when you're starting out, it's okay to say, i, you know, palette's not ready these things yet, don't want to happen is for you to be listening and oh or I try to juice years ago and it was horrible. So give it a try. my favorites and I know two of my girls it's their favorite two the cashew cold-brew. And so I do carb cycling, meaning, you know, we don't ever want take. a macro nutrient out of our, out of our food. Right. And our lives, but we do. Hi, you know, regular carb days and low carb days. And on those days you want to get a lot of good fats. So I love stopping by rock creations and getting the Drinks with the cashew in it to help me get those things. And that's another thing we talk about is fat. Not all fats are bad. Just like not all carbs are bad. So I think that's a to, if you're trying to macros and get that in, you are to a whole food lifestyle used to eating foods that aren't very nutrient dense. And those whole foods, it can be challenging to get in. We have to undo thinking once again, right. A lot of us were raised with like eat less or restrict calories and you'll lose weight. Oh, you want to eat, but eat real food and it can be challenging to, to meet those macro minimums. So this is another way to get those in. So that is hands down. One of my favorites. So, well, thank you for sharing again with us. Jen, let us know how we can reach you and find out more information about RA creations.

Jennifer:

right. Yeah. If you will go on to rA creations to stock. We deliver in the Woodlands montgomery spring area. But you can also stop by our stores at montgomery and Magnolia. So, all right. Love to see you guys.
